Emergency Generator Controls
If your asset depends on a generator for either direct or emergency power, then you understand that the generator unit is only as reliable as its control unit. The control unit must be dependable when switching from utility to standby power.
Advanced Control Systems understands this importance and engineers and customizes Emergency Generator Controls to provide solutions for our client’s unique needs. ACS’s emergency generator switchgear includes an Emergency Generator circuit breaker as well as a Normal Feed circuit breaker to accommodate normal ship service feed.
The controls provide for the auto start/auto transfer function required for emergency service. The auto start/auto transfer logic will automatically start and transfer the Emergency Engine-Generator Set to the 480V Emergency Switchboard within 45 seconds of loss of the main source of electrical power. Transfer of load from the emergency generator back to normal service is via manual operation. A mode selection switch is provided for selecting the proper mode of operation—Run / Automatic / Off.
In addition, the Emergency Switchboard can have the option to “Back-Feed” the 480V Distribution Switchboard from the Emergency Generator in the “Back-Feed Mode”. If this option is included, an overcurrent relay will trip the “Normal Power” Circuit Breaker when 80% capacity of the Emergency Generator is exceeded.
